Encantadia becomes top trending topic worldwide

For Encantadia fans all over the world, the pilot episode of the Kapuso series’ present-day version, which premiered worldwide on GMA Pinoy TV last July 18, was worth the 11-year wait.

Even prior to its pilot telecast, Encantadiks (as how fans of the show refer to themselves) have been expressing their excitement on social media to witness the beginning of the Kapuso Network’s retelling of one of its biggest and more successful fantasy series.

Minutes after the big launch, the hashtag #Encantadia became the number one trending topic on Twitter in the Philippines and worldwide as fans, old and new, took to the micro-blogging site to express their support and admiration for the return of the Kapuso show.

With the bar already set so high, viewers can expect no less than a visual feast in every episode, coupled with a riveting storyline that is truly Filipino in values and content.

“There’s so much more reasons to watch the show. Encantadia’s requel is one of the biggest projects in Philippine television. It's the story that you're going to get,” promised Encantadia director, Mark Reyes, who also directed the original version.

“Ang naging paghahanda rito [The preparations for this]—from the costumes to the script to the set hanggang sa graphics, lahat [to the graphics, and everything else]—three times bigger sa unang version [is three times bigger than the first version]," he shared.

Featuring a powerhouse cast, Encantadia 2016 is led by Kylie Padilla, Gabbi Garcia, Sanya Lopez, and Glaiza De Castro as the four Sang’gres or keeper of the four precious elemental stones that are integral to maintaining peace and order in the land of Encantadia. Playing special roles are Kapuso Primetime King and Queen Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera-Dantes as Raquim and Ynang Reyna Minea.

Encantadia Sang’gres suit up for battle

As the fate of Encantadia rests in the hands of four ethereal beauties guarding the elemental gems of fire, air, water and earth, this year’s biggest television protagonists – the Sang’gres Pirena, Amihan, Alena and Danaya– have donned their warrior gear, ready to defend their realm.

After recently revealing the Francis Libiran-designed royal gowns (Sang’gre, after all, translates to “royal blood” in Enchanta, the language used in the land of Encantadia), GMA Network proudly unveiled the beautifully-designed warrior outfits for each of the main characters in the much-awaited series.

With the retelling of the well-loved series premiering soon on GMA, and worldwide through GMA’s flagship international channel GMA Pinoy TV, fans old and new alike, are waiting with bated breath to see the fantasy world return to television.

With the release of the series’ trailer and a few sneak peeks here and there from the show’s Instagram account (@gmaencantadia) whetting viewers’ appetites, the Kingdom of Encantadia is slowly coming to life for enthusiasts around the world.

Apart from its grand production value, the show is comprised of sterling elements that make up a good show beginning with its director, Mark Reyes, who was also at the helm of Encantadia’s highly successful first production in 2005, and its creator, Suzette Doctolero, who is known for groundbreaking concepts such as the award-winning My Husband’s Lover.

Moreover, the cast is composed of homegrown talents Kylie Padilla as Amihan, keeper of the Jewel of Air; Gabbi Garcia as Alena, keeper of the Jewel of Water; Sanya Lopez as Danaya, keeper of the Jewel of Earth; and Glaiza de Castro as Pirena, keeper of the Jewel of Fire.

Encantadia trailer garners positive feedback from audience

After months of anticipation, Encantadia fans were finally given a preview of the grand re-telling of one of the Kapuso Network’s most iconic fantasy series, as its official trailer was launched last June 11.

The cast of the much-awaited requel of the Kapuso telefantasya was presented at the Toy Conference 2016 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, Philippines. The launch of the Encantadia cast served as one of the highlights of the three-day conference, where the trailer was shown for the first time.

Three days after it was uploaded on YouTube, the official teaser trailer of Encantadia has already garnered more than 129,000 views and has elicited positive comments from netizens.

The audience praised the show’s special effects, with some even describing it as the Philippines’ own version of HBO’s Emmy award-winning series, Game of Thrones.

Home-grown Kapuso stars, Kylie Padilla, Gabbi Garcia, Sanya Lopez and Glaiza de Castro were chosen to portray the roles of the four Sang’gres – Amihan, Alena, Danaya and Pirena – or guardians of the elemental gems.

Playing very special roles are Primetime King and Queen Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera-Dantes as Raquim and Ynang Reyna Minea.

Joining the stellar cast are John Arcilla, Rocco Nacino, Ruru Madrid, Sunshine Dizon, Christian Bautista, Rochelle Pangilinan, Vaness del Moral, Pancho Magno, Buboy Villar, Carlo Gonzalez, Kate Valdez, Mikee Quintos, Starstruck finalist James Teng, introducing Starstruck winners Klea Pineda and Migo Adecer, and Solenn Heussaff.

More exciting ‘Encantadia’ retelling in the works

Four Kapuso actresses have emerged successful in the rigorous auditions for GMA Network’s retelling of the hit fantasy series Encantadia this 2016.

In a much-awaited grand announcement on 24 Oras last April 4, the highly-coveted roles of the four sisters, who are called Sang’gres or guardians of the elemental gems, went to GMA Artist Center stars Kylie Padilla, Gabbi Garcia, Sanya Lopez and Glaiza de Castro.

Versatile star Kylie Padilla will portray the role of Amihan, the keeper of the Jewel of Air. Alena, the keeper of the Jewel of Water, will be portrayed by talented young actress Gabbi Garcia. NewcomerSanya Lopez will play the role of Danaya, the keeper of the Jewel of Earth. And multi-talented actressGlaiza de Castro will breathe life to Pirena, the eldest among the Sang'gres and the keeper of the Jewel of Fire.

The highly-acclaimed series first aired on GMA Network in 2005 and was deemed the grandest television production at that time.

The story is set in the enchanted realm of Encantadia, which is divided into four kingdoms – Adamya, Sapiro, Lireo, and Hathoria. Each kingdom holds one of the four precious elemental stones that are integral to maintaining peace and order in the land.

Encantadia 2016, which will soon air on GMA Pinoy TV, is helmed by Director Mark Reyes, who also led the production of the series’ first run. Reyes dubs the new series as a ‘requel’ which will offer something new and revitalize the familiar story that is well-loved by Kapuso audiences across the globe to make it appealing to a new audience of millenials.

During the story conference for Encantadia 2016, he reminded his new cast that this will not be like any regular show. “Encantadia is very different. You have to live the whole project. You have to live your characters,” he said.

He encouraged the four new lead actresses to bond and help each other out as he recalled how the relationship among the original lead cast members contributed to the success of the series.

With excitement building for Encantadia 2016, Reyes promises viewers a better show. "We will do our best to make this even better than the first one. That's all we can promise. Pinaghirapan po namin 'to[We worked very hard on this]. Nakita niyo [You’ve seen] how special this is… so expect bigger and more exciting things about Encantadia," he shared. (30)
