Miguel Tanfelix celebrates 15 years as a Kapuso; renews exclusive contract with GMA Network
Sought-after Kapuso actor Miguel Tanfelix remains a loyal Kapuso as he recently renewed his exclusive contract with GMA Network, Inc.
Miguel shared that he is committed to reciprocate the immense trust that GMA has always given him through the years, “Papunta dito kinakabahan ako kasi alam ko ang responsibilities na bubuhatin ko po, and handa naman akong harapin lahat 'yun. Of course, I'm very happy and very blessed na nandito pa rin ako for more years sa GMA. Makakaasa po sila na more than a hundred percent effort and puso ang ibibigay ko sa lahat ng blessings na ibibigay nila sa akin.”
From his breakthrough performance as Niño in the top-rating primetime soap of the same title where he starred as an inspiring boy with mental incapacities to his outstanding role as Diego in the hit series Kambal, Karibal where he won Best Actor in a Leading Role from the 1st Asian Academy Creative Awards – Miguel is proving his stature in the entertainment industry. At present, he is one of the lead stars of GMA’s epic drama series Sahaya.
“Gusto ko pong mag-explore ng ibang roles, pwedeng maging bida-kontrabia, gusto ko rin po ng action. Ngayon, nagwo-workshop po ako para ma-expand ‘yung mga kaya ko pang gawin, para mas maging versatile ako at kahit ano po ang ibigay sa akin magagampanan ko po ng maayos.”
Present in the contract signing were GMA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Atty. Felipe L. Gozon, GMA President and Chief Operating Officer Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr., GMA Senior Vice President for Entertainment Group Lilybeth G. Rasonable, GMA Vice President for Drama Productions Redgie Acuña Magno, and GMA Senior Assistant Vice President for Alternative Productions Gigi Santiago-Lara.
During the contract signing held at the Boardroom of GMA Network, Atty. Gozon expressed his admiration over the actor’s loyalty towards the Kapuso Network, “Tayo’y parang naging tatay na ni Miguel and we are very glad na he is staying with us at habang tumatanda si Miguel ay gumagaling na artista. Hindi lamang iyon, gumagwapo pa kaya talagang nagagalak tayo na Kapuso pa siya hanggang ngayon.”
Rasonable, in turn, shared her appreciation of the young actor’s professionalism and undeniable passion for his craft, “He started at five-years-old at hanggang ngayon nandito pa sa atin. Talagang homegrown ‘yan. Sa totoo lang, napaka-professional ng batang iyan, madaling katrabaho at higit sa lahat napakahusay umarte. Isa siya sa mga talagang hinahangaan natin na mga kabataan na napakagaling mag-tackle ng kaniyang roles and very serious about his craft. Siguro nga bilang artist gusto niyang mag-explore ng iba’t ibang klaseng characters at isa nga doon na very challenging siguro for him would be a bida-kontrabida role. Maybe in the future that can be explored but we have many plans for him, many more lead roles in big projects na dapat abangan.” (30)

The internet has been abuzz over recent exciting rumors that Mulawin, GMA Network’s iconic fantasy series launched in 2004, is making a comeback.
Over the past few days, GMA’s Instagram account featured teaser images of a familiar winged humanoid, alluding to the possibility of Mulawin’s reappearance on television screens.
Rumors were laid to rest as it was announced that Kapuso teen star Miguel Tanfelix will reprise his role as Pagaspas from Mulawin in the grand retelling of Encantadia, another well-loved Kapuso fantasy series set in the same fantasy realm, currently airing worldwide on GMA Pinoy TV.
Miguel first played Pagaspas in the Mulawin series in 2004, when he was just five years old. Twelve years later, he finds himself once more donning the eagle-like wings of the Mulawin, a fictional race of peaceful avian beings who were the early inhabitants of the Philippines.
As his character flies its way into the kingdom of Encantadia to join forces with the Sang’gres, Miguel could not contain his excitement when he watched the teaser. "Nung nakita ko po yung teaser, kinilabutan po ako. Natuwa po ako and na-excite po ako nang sobra sa episode ng Encantadia [When I saw the teaser, I got goosebumps. I was really happy and excited with this episode of Encantadia]," he shares.
He also said that he couldn’t help but reminisce about the time he first played the role of a Mulawin. “Nung nalaman ko po na ako 'yung gaganap bilang Pagaspas ng Encantadia, talagang nag-flashback po sa 'kin lahat ng mga memories ko before. And siyempre nakakagulat. Ang saya sa feeling na gagampanan mo ulit 'yung role na ginampanan mo nung five years old ka [When I found out that I would be playing Pagaspas in Encantadia, all my memories from before started to flash back in my mind. Of course, it was surprising. But it’s a nice feeling to be able to portray a role that you previously played when you were only five years old],” he added.
