Thia Megia is a 15-year-old from Mountain House, California. She auditioned in Milwaukee for American Idol 2011, and is also a rumored Top 40 contestant on American Idol Season 10. However, this is not the first time that Thia Megia has garnished national praise and attention, she also appeared on America’s Got Talent. She sang Adele’s “Chasing Pavements” for the American Idol 2011 panel of judges.
Thia Megia started singing at age 4. During a birthday party when she younger, Thia Megia stood on a table and began singing for her guests, and at that moment she realized that performing was what she was born to do. Thia Megia says that the rejection from America’s Got Talent has only made her drive stronger.
Thia Megia is constantly inspired by her parents and grandparents and that they give her the key to her dreams. Even though it may sound cliché, Thia Megia says the best advice she has ever received was to never give up. Thia Megia’s current musical influence is Adele, because of her unique voice and heart-felt performances. Thia Megia’s favorite American Idol moment was Kelly Clarkson’s “A Moment Like This” during American Idol Season 1.
“I’m generally misconceived as a one-genre singer. But it just really depends on the song. I sing all different types of music.” Says Thia Megia, American Idol 2011 contestant.
