"Ooh La Lam" gets ready for second season on TFC
Chef Ron Bilaro and team shooting 13 brand new episodes, unveiling 36 spectacular dishes, all to air very soon on TFC
REDWOOD SHORES, March 4, 2015 - SERIOUS OR FUN? "Seriously fun"with exciting recipe twists and surprises! That's the spirit of the second season of Ooh La Lam to be aired soon only on TFC on Sundays, 5:45pm Pacific. With very successful Chicago-based private chef and TV host Ron Bilaro, fans look forward to learning how to prepare traditional Filipino cuisine such as adobo, pinangat, tinola, and the like with a modern twist. The show is intended for anyone who wants to elevate their most basic Filipino culinary skills and advance to cooking these dishes with a more global appeal.
More than just your ordinary cooking show, though, Ooh La Lam is packed with easy-to-follow recipes, useful tips, trivia, even a cultural lesson or two. The host-chef shares his experiences while growing up in the Pasig City and the Bicol region in the Philippines and shows how these memories become an integral ingredient in forming his recipes.
Bilaro was born and raised in the Philippines. His family immigrated to the United States when he was in his teens. He started working as a flight attendant but after 9/11, he wound up as one of the most successful graduates of the Le Cordon Bleu program of The Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago. His list of clientele includes prominent families and corporations in the Windy City and the West Coast.
Aside from hosting "Eat and Ron" on TFC, a culinary adventure across America, Bilaro is working on his second recipe book “Cooking Privately with Chef Ron Bilaro”. This will be his first e-Book. His first book was published in 2009 and was sold out. Bilaro is also currently one of the celebrity friends of the Ronald McDonald House Charities which promotes the welfare of children around the world and is an active supporter of Gawad Kalinga (“Give Care”), an anti-poverty movement in the Philippines and other developing countries. Bilaro hosted his first TV program “Life Pinoy Style”, a cooking and lifestyle show from 2006–2011 and was a food columnist for The Chicago Tribune (Dishing with Ron Bilaro) from 2004 to 2007 which also appeared at The Baltimore Sun and Sun Sentinel of South Florida. He worked a sous chef to Chef Art Smith, personal chef to Oprah from 2003 to 2005.
