‘Inday Will Always Love You’ grateful for viewers’ overwhelming support
Inday Will Always Love You (IWALY) continues to win the hearts of viewers—consistently topping the ratings and dominating the trending topics online for the last two weeks.
Since it aired last May 21, the Kapuso Network’s latest primetime offering has been both the ‘most-watched’ and ‘much- talked about’ series on its time block not only in Metro Manila but also in Cebu.
“I feel so overwhelmed [by the positive feedback],” shares Kapuso actress Barbie Forteza. As Happylou Magtibay, Barbie’s character definitely lives up to her name: bubbly, optimistic, and strong. She adds that she is “proud of our show” and seeing how viewers and netizens have been loving IWALY reinforces her belief that “all the hard work of everyone totally paid off.”
Her co-star and leading man, Derrick Monasterio, agrees. “The response from people watching our show has been incredible, [it] feels so good and heartwarming,” shares the Kapuso heartthrob who plays Patrick in IWALY. The series sees the return to the small screen of the much-loved DerBie love team.
Veteran actress Manilyn Reynes, who plays Barbie’s mom in IWALY, is elated by the show’s great performance. “Everything’s overwhelming—the way our viewers let IWALY in[to] their hearts, the way they support and love the show. These things mean so much to us and will serve as inspiration for us to do [more for the show. Happy ako that we are clearly sending the message that the show is trying to impart: [which is] to hold on to the things that truly matter-love, respect, faith and family. [Also to] not forget perseverance, na nakikita natin kay Inday Happylou. At marami pang positive na katangian na dapat dala-dala natin saan man tayo magpunta,” she adds.
With Cebu and its culture taking the spotlight in this Kapuso rom-com series, the cast had to travel and stay in Cebu. They had to go from one place to another to capture the authenticity of Happylou’s journey as a Manila-based lechon store assistant who traveled to the said province to work and look for her father.
“Being Cebuana, masaya po ako lagi to do projects that showcase ‘anything and everything Cebu’, ika nga,” quips Reynes. She adds that her co-stars have been enthusiastic to learn about her hometown’s dialect. “They ask me how a certain word is being said or pronounced.”
It is no wonder that more and more Cebuano viewers continue to support them every night. Their rapport on the set and their great chemistry on-cam have been rewarded by commendable ratings performance since its pilot airing.
“I thank everyone for watching and tweeting about our show,” shares Forteza. “It wouldn't be a success if not for them. I am grateful especially [for] the support of our beloved Cebuanos,” says Forteza.
“I thank all of the Kapuso especially the Cebuanos who are supporting our show,” says Monasterio. “I wish that you guys will continue watching IWALY till the end.”
“Salamat po sa suporta at pagmamahal na ipinapakita ninyo. Kaninyong tanan dinha sa Cebu, daghan kaayong salamat sa pagkuyug ninyo namu kada gabii. Love ta mung tanan!” adds Reynes.
What’s in store for the viewers in the next weeks to come?
Says, Forteza: “There will be more kilig, drama and a lot of twists so I hope they will keep [on] watching.”
“There’ll be more scenes that will make them fall in love, feel kilig, happy, angry. There will be scenes that will make them think, too. So, please, stay with Inday Will Always Love You. Marami pa pong magyayari,” says Reynes.
