Sir Ian Kershaw Prize (PGR only)

Deadline 2023-24: 5pm, Friday 16 February 2024

A single award of up to £600 is available to meet the costs of visiting archives and collections in continental Europe. According to the terms of the fund, applicants must be undertaking research for a PhD on 20th century European history (excluding the history of Britain and Ireland). Applications are welcomed for the support of travel and maintenance costs associated with archival work in languages other than English.

The holder of the Kershaw award will be required to produce a short report on how the award has been used to support their doctoral research.

The terms of the fund are very specific - so please get in touch with the Director of Graduate Studies if you would like clarification about whether your field of research meets the set criteria (in particular, over the definition of 'Europe' in this context).

This award is open to History research students only.
