Domestic violence and sexual assault

The University takes incidents of both domestic and sexual violence very seriously and wants to ensure that any students affected are able to access appropriate information and support.

The choices you have about where to go and what to do next can vary depending on where and when the incident occurred. However, you can seek support from a number of sources at any time after the incident, even years later; support is not limited to those who make an immediate report. Any decisions will be yours and you will be respected and supported in your decision. You will not be judged and you will not be blamed.

The University has a dedicated team of sexual violence liaison officers available to support you. They are experienced at listening to the experiences of students who’ve been affected by sexual violence/misconduct and in helping you to understand the choices available to you.

Information about support and how to report an incident are outlined here. You can also contact the Student Welfare and Wellbeing team (support@sheffield.ac.uk) for more information.

If you're in immediate danger or seriously injured on campus, call our Security Services on +44 114 222 4444. If you're off campus, dial 999.

Initial guidance will usually be provided by Central Welfare and Guidance but we also want to offer you support in the Department. In particular we will be able to offer support and guidance on your academic studies.
