For the relationship project, we were instructed to take a photo that represents some sort of relationship. Wether it be a bee and a flower, a friendship, or romantic relationship. I decided to base my photo off of friendship which I believe to very important to a person's success and happiness, especially in their teenage years like the people pictured above. In order to create this image, I had my camera set up on a tripod on a continuous timer. I altered the developing process by painting on the chemical to the desired place. I used elements of line, shape, value, texture, and space. I also used principals of balance, contrast, emphasis, movement, pattern, and rhythm. Composition rules and techniques showcased in this image include the following: formal balance, silhouette lighting, and soft focus. I had a lot of trouble with the developing process because when I would paint on the developer, the earlier places would develop more quickly than the others, leaving some figures darker than others. In order to fix this issue, I painted on the developer as quickly and evenly as possible in a single line and continued with the print making process. This photo was taken as my friends and I were walking on Higgins beach. We had made a maze in the sand and were walking through it. This project related to my life because it represents the fun that my friends and I have together. It also represents a moment that I will cherish forever as I grow up and out of my teenage years. If there was something that I could do to make this image stronger, I would selectively develop the 5 figures individually instead of doing a single strip of all the bodies across the paper.
