Magnification

The subject of this image is a series of glasses filled with varying amounts of water, strategically placed in front of an apple. I created this image so that the apple would be magnified or shrunk through the glasses of water. I used elements of line, shape, color, texture, and space, As well as principals of pattern, rhythm, and unity.

Composition rules and techniques in this image include the following: high key lighting because it was taken in the lightroom and I set up the lights so it would be bright. I also used grouping by using multiple glasses of water. In order to change and revise this photo to improve it, I played around with the amounts of water in each cup so that the magnification would vary depending on that variable.

This photo relates to my concentration because peoples perceptions on food can be very different. Some may have a lot of food, and some many have a little. This is represented by the different sizes of the food in the glass. This project relates to my life because I have been lucky enough to be born into a situation where I don't have to worry about where my next meal is going to come from, however, I have a great concern for those who aren't as fortunate as me. I would like to bring attention to the great amount of poverty we have in this world, and I believe that photos can be a factor in bringing attention to it. If i could make this image stronger, I would use more than one food item to place behind the glasses.
