Taken at an authentic restaurant in Mexico, is my portrait photo of my younger brother Teddy, In order to create this image and the composition of this image, I didn't have to do much. The lights in the back were on, he was already dressed up in a button down white shirt that matched with the barn in the back round, and he was exhausted which prompted him to lay down on hay bail. All I had to do in order to create this image was ask him to smile and click the button. Along with a little editing afterwards of course. I used this image because I believed that it was very easy on the eyes, and because it used elements and principals of design including line, shape, color, texture, space, balance, contrast, emphasis, and pattern.
On the other hand, composition rules and techniques used in this image include, selective focus, sharp focus, and high key lighting, All of which are pretty self explanatory. His eyes, the lights, and the white shirt contrasted by the white building all play into the high key lighting aspect. In order to improve this image, I did a lot of editing, particularly on the eyes. By increasing the saturation, more emphasis and color is added to the image, which I find to be quite attractive and a nice addition to the photograph.
This project relates to my life because it's my brother, and family is very important to me. If I could do something to make this image stronger, I would crop out the rest of the building on the far left side because I feel as though it distracts from the rest of the image, as it contrasts with the white shirt because they are different hues of white.
