Quarter Review

What are the ways that your own photography has changed throughout the semester?

Throughout this quarter, I believe that my photography has improved greatly. This is due to the fact that I have since learned how to better navigate my camera, which results in better quality photos. Also, after learning about the rules of composition, my photos are much more mature, compared to the photos that I took before I was enrolled in this course.

Has the way you look at other people's photos changed due to the study of photographic compositional "rules?"

Yes, the way I look at other photos has changed due to the study of the rules of composition. I am now much more critical of photos because I know what a photo has to have in order to be considered a good photograph.

Which assignment(s) do you feel are your strongest? Explain.

I feel as though my strongest assignment was the digital composition project because there were so many photos to take! I got to feature different subjects, with different guidelines to follow.

Which do you feel are the weakest? Explain. If you could go back and revisit that assignment what would you do differently?

The multiplicity project was the most challenging for me because I get very confused while using photoshop. I'm very new to the system, which makes it hard for me to navigate and follow directions on. If I could change one thing in this project, I would change the fact that I asked for so much help. I should've done further research in finding out how to successfully complete this project, without the immense amount of help given to me by my teacher.

I like this photo because the high key lighting creates an interesting mood, and the words add to it. I think it's cool how you can still read the words despite the fact that it's enflamed.

I like this photo because I am very proud of it. While trying to capture low key lighting in the digital composition project, I found myself laying on the floor in the pitch black basement with a clock. It took me many tries to get this photo, and I think the outcome is flattering.

I think this photo from the digital composition project is one of my favorites, because you can't tell where the whiteness in the photo ends. This really emphasizes the seagull mid flight.

I personally adore this photo from the digital composition project because of the lighting. The light shines through the main focal point, the flower, which sets the flower up for a sharp focus effect.

I love this photo from the portrait select series because it truly emphasises the paint, and how his eyes indicate that he's focused on something completely different based on the direction of his eyes.
