Advanced Photograms (Inverted)

The subject of this image happens to be a variety of different things, due to the interesting prompt. In order to succeed at this assignment, we were instructed to combine 4 photographs that we've taken and put them onto the same photo using photoshop. I proceeded to turn the image to greyscale and invert the colors in order to swap the positive and negative space. I printed it on the clear paper and took it into the darkroom to test out the exposure on test strips. After coming to the conclusion that 12 seconds would be the appropriate time for light exposure to the paper, I developed my first image of the year. Not shown is the same photo, but with the negative and positive spaces swapped. In order to do this, I just printed the inverted image on the paper so that different areas of paper would be exposed. The other print is basically the opposite of this one. Composition rules and techniques including rule of thirds, informal balance, silhouette lighting, sharp focus, and low key lighting can all be found in this medley of photos. Elements such as line, shape, color, value, and space are all included in this image, and the principals of balance, contrast, emphasis, movement, and unity are all present as well. If I could do something to make this image stronger, I would either expose the paper to more light (more than 12 seconds), or I would leave the paper in the developer for longer. This would increase the contrast which I think would make a positive impact on the overall feel and look of the image. This image relates to my life because obviously, these are all images that I've taken of my friends, family, or during my recent trip to Washington D.C., which is represented by the Washington Monument on the left-hand side.
