For my complimentary colors project, I chose my subject to be a strawberry. I took the strawberry and placed it in the light box in school to get the best lighting possible. This photo is composed using the elements of line, shape, color, texture, and space. Texture is most prominent because I made sure to get up very close to the strawberry to really capture the texture of the seeds and the leaves. Principals used are contrast, emphasis, and pattern because the seeds create a repeating design.
Composition rules and techniques are showcased in this image as well. Such as sharp focus on the strawberry, and high key lighting because the subject is in the light box. The only thing I changed was the position of the subject in order to get a better understanding of what it is and what it looks like.
My concentration is societal issues so I photographed food in order to represent the waste of food in our society even with our high rate of poverty. This project relates to my life because I have noticed myself lately wasting food that I don't eat. Instead, I've started recycling and helping out at homeless shelters that serve food.
