The Senior Performance Review process is a structured approach to evaluating senior staff performance, fostering development, and setting goals. This page provides guidance on preparing for and conducting performance reviews, along with email templates for communicating with the team members before and after their review meetings.
Pre-Meeting Email Template
This email should be sent at least one week before the scheduled review date to give the team member time to complete their self-assessment.
Subject: Preparing for Your Performance Review
Hi [Team Member's Name],
I hope you're doing well! We're getting ready for your upcoming performance review, and I wanted to touch base. Can you confirm if you’re available for our meeting on [Date and Time]?
Attached is your performance review form. Before our meeting, I’d like you to complete it as a self-assessment:
Review each item in Column “B.”
Use Column “C” to rate your performance on a scale of 1 to 5 (details on the ratings are below).
In Column “D,” add any comments, examples, or insights to support your scores.
Here’s a quick guide for the performance ratings:
5 - Excellent Performance: Outstanding, above and beyond expectations.
4 - Above Expectations: Exceeded what was required.
3 - Meet Expectations: Met all expectations.
2 - Below Expectations: Didn’t fully meet requirements.
1 - Poor Performance: Significantly below expectations.
Please complete and return your self-assessment by EOD on [Due Date]. Once I have it, I’ll finalise my feedback and ratings for our discussion.
