After moving to a new community near Minburi, I noticed that stray cats were everywhere—under cars, along the sidewalks, and even sleeping in front of my porch. I felt that one thing they needed was comfort. As much as I wished I could adopt all of them and give them the love and care they deserve, that was not realistically possible at the time. Instead, I decided to work with two of my neighbors to provide essentials for these cats, including fresh water and food.
At first, everything was funded out of our own pockets. However, the costs gradually added up, and we realized that we would not be able to provide as much support as we wanted with our limited resources. As a result, we began accepting donations and taking action as quickly as possible to show supporters that their contributions were being put to good use. We often received positive feedback from animal lovers, although some people felt that the money could be spent elsewhere.
Eventually, we gained support from community members, including security staff, residents, and gardeners, who could see the progress of our efforts. Every stray cat in the community, regardless of age, was treated with care and given access to food and water.
Through this project, I learned how to interact with cats in a way that helps them feel safe and comfortable rather than threatened. I am also grateful for the opportunity to contribute to my community and to work with people outside my age group, which has given me a broader perspective on collaboration and community involvement.
With this project, we hope that we were able to make a positive difference for the cats in our community. Every cat deserves to be cared for.
