As we noticed a digital divide between communities and a pressing need for digital literacy in underprivileged areas, we launched COMPASS, a group committed to empowering disadvantaged individuals by providing computers and in-depth tech training and promoting digital literacy for an advanced technological age. The goal is to improve digital literacy by providing these people with technology skills and supporting their personal and academic growth.

We went to multiple foundations and schools to reach out to all communities. Firstly, we went to Yannawa Senior School, where we taught retired seniors to use Canva for their jobs. Most seniors had local businesses, so we mainly taught them how to use Canva for menu design, poster advertisements, and basic video editing skills. Afterward, we went to Hua Hin to teach PowerPoint to elementary school kids in Ban Nong Heang, a rural school that needs computers. Apart from just teaching, we donated computers through online fundraising. We raised ฿30,000, which was used to buy additional computers and other compartments. Finally, we went to the Baan Nokkamin Foundation in Bangkok to donate computers.

Through these types of community service, we learned the value of sharing, caring, and teamwork. We also learned how to cooperate even though our time does not match. Communication was a big key to success since our schedules did not align, leading to some of the donations being made on our own. Throughout the project, we realized how lucky we were to have everything provided for us to use when we saw how thrilled the children were with the new computer we donated. Seeing them so happy over something that had always provided for us made us more ambitious in making their needs known to others. From this experience, Compass will fight harder for a brighter future for all disadvantaged children.
