Participating in the SEASAC basketball tournament was an adventure filled with highs and lows. One of the most memorable moments was our final game, where we won! It was extra special because it was the last basketball game for some of our senior players, so it was a game we wanted to win. Then, after we finally won the game, seeing our seniors so happy for finishing on a high note filled me with joy and pride for our team.
During the tournament, each game brought us closer together as a team. However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. We had many injuries, like when I twisted my ankle in the first game. Even though it hurt my team and me, I still fought hard and kept playing for the rest of the tournament, which was challenging. Even now, my ankle still hurts when I twist and turn it. Regardless, it was worth it, and I would do it again if I had to.
Looking back, I feel a mix of emotions. Winning the final game felt great, but we could have done better. It was our first game, and we were playing against the host, feeling the referees weren't fair. They weren’t calling fouls for our team, and it just felt like they were out to get us, favoring the host team. This is where my and my team’s spirit started to fade; suddenly, it wasn’t so much fun anymore. Despite this, we had to keep going. Life isn't always fair, and we can't change that. We have to keep fighting and moving forward. However, I still felt we did not fully recover the spirit we lost in the first game, resulting in our not-so-great ranking placement.
This experience taught me to keep pushing myself. It showed me the importance of teamwork and never giving up, even when things aren't fair. Thinking about this experience makes me wonder about fairness in sports and how teams overcome challenges. Exploring these questions could help us understand more about teamwork and sportsmanship. Overall, SEASAC basketball was a mix of ups and downs. It taught me valuable lessons about perseverance and teamwork.
