In this project, I took the role of team leader and curator, working with other international school students in my community to plan and lead activities for 17 children at a childcare organization, The Place of Grace. A total of four students participated in this service activity, introducing the children to contemporary art. The activity gave the children hands-on experience and helped them engage with art in a meaningful way, allowing them to explore new ideas and express themselves through art.
After the activities, I also organized an exhibition to showcase the children’s work. This exhibition, Beyond Time, highlighted their experiences and learning, providing a space to present their creations—self-portraits that were processed into an installation piece—in a professional setting. In addition to the children's work, 14 students from international schools participated by creating and displaying artworks that explored the theme Technology and Future, which I proposed. I was responsible for arranging and installing the works a few days before the exhibition, carefully curating the balance and layout of the display in the exhibition hall.
I also managed tasks such as contacting the exhibition site, transporting the artworks, and presenting information about each piece. Personally, I submitted two sets of individual works and two sets of collaborative works: one, an installation piece made of the children's self-portraits from The Place of Grace; and two, a combined canvas installation created in collaboration with younger students.
Through this experience, I developed skills in event planning, leadership, and communication, while continuing to explore my interests in art-making and creative activities. I learned how to organize activities, guide participants, and present their work effectively.
