The collective goal of this project was to sell homemade cookies, stickers, and tote bags in order to raise awareness and support disabled dogs and enrichment resources for captive reptiles, which I was fascinated with since they are usually seen as not playful or active. However, that would come in the second part, as the first part was to raise awareness and money to support stray dogs and cats at the Soi Dog Foundation as part of a service-learning trip. As the head of the project, I had the most responsibility, being in charge of everything from initiating the plan, preparing the products, and distributing the roles and responsibilities of my teammates based on what I thought suited them best, such as drawing attention to customers and managing money.
In the first half of the project, from October 11 to December 19, we sold homemade cookies as well as gave free stickers to anyone who donated money instead. All profits went to the Soi Dog Foundation, where I would go with two of my teammates to Phuket alongside a few others and Ms. Shirley. My experience partaking in the Soi Dog activity saw massive growth, particularly in my people skills, as I was able to communicate with my teammates, who were more than willing to help. The trip was quite fun, helping the staff by walking the disabled dogs around the location for their daily walk, which made me recall how nowadays the problem is still large, and I want to provide some support to help solve this issue.
The second part of the project took place during the RIS Fun Fair, where I decided to put a price on the leftover stickers from the first part and sell 25 tote bags, each with a unique design. All profit received would be donated to support reptile enrichment development for the Peuan Deratchan Mini Zoo, which is currently wrapping itself up. During the fun fair, I realized that one of the challenges of selling products is attracting customers, because not everyone is interested in my stuff. To solve this, I tried to loudly announce that there are products on sale, which required me to communicate with respect towards students and adults. I think this project was more enjoyable and successful than the first part, mostly because the stickers have a price instead of just being free for donations.
