There were many memorable moments throughout the making of the musical and the performances. Everyone put in a lot of hard work to make it a reality. After all the long rehearsal hours, there is now a tight-knit group that can fondly cherish the memories of participating and being a part of such a hardworking and dedicated community, which is truly gratifying. Many hardships were difficult and seemingly hopeless, as we felt unprepared just days before the performances. However, the cast and crew managed to work together to pull through and overcome the obstacles.
The audience members' reactions were also memorable since I had never been a part of a proper production before. While rehearsing, even though you know an audience will see the show, it only feels real once it happens. The first performance flew by in a flash, filled with mild panic and stress, but ended with applause. This was when it felt like the experience was 'worth it,' as we saw the fruits of our labor in the form of happiness and excitement from children and adults alike. It's also always a bonus to make someone's day brighter.
In the future, I would like to be a part of the crew again, but I fear that the workload will be too much for me. Balancing all the assignments this year took a lot of work, mainly because rehearsals ended late. With Y2's work added in and college applications, I worry that I must sacrifice one for the other. Because of this, I am still mulling over whether or not to do the musical next year.
