Production Planning assists organisations in managing all their production tasks. It can be set up for Sales, Work and Purchase Orders. It also works with the Tracker Application.
The settings below determine how Production Planning will be applied in an organisation.
Table of Contents
Navigation: Main Menu > Setup > Settings
Production Planning > Disable Task Scheduling:
Checkbox (default unchecked).
If checked tasks cannot be scheduled, only the full transaction can be scheduled. All the date fields linked to Tasks and scheduling actions are hidden.
Production Planning > Enable Groups and Tasks:
A checkbox. If checked Groups and Tasks are enabled.
All the tasks in the same Stage are Grouped into one Grouped Task
The Routing column, Board View and Task View only show the Grouped Tasks.
Groups and Tasks are displayed in a tree view in Job Edit View.
Tracking and Timekeeping are done at a Group Level. However, Task Statuses can be set in a Part-Complete Group using the Tracker app or in the Jobs Edit View.
Start/End Dates cannot be set on a Task Level and will be cleared if they are edited.
Tasks in a Group can be deleted. When the last task is deleted, the Group is deleted.
Group Status changes are cascaded to Tasks: Pending, Planned, Ready, Complete unless the Task's status is Complete or Part-Complete.
The required quantity (Req Qty) and estimate hours (Est Hrs) can be edited for Tasks and Groups. The Task fields are added to form the Group fields.
Production Planning > NCR - Category:
Provides a dropdown list of NCR categories for users to select the one that applies to production.
Allows NCRs to be created from Task View.
Production Planning > Set Complete Quantity in Tasks (Manual):
Checkbox. If checked, the complete quantity can be manually edited. If unchecked, the complete quantity can only be set using the Tracker app.

Assembly: Use when you want to track the Assembly quantity.
Root Assembly: Use when you want to track the Root Assembly quantity.

Production Planning > Show Completed Quantity in Routing:
A checkbox. If checked, the completed and required quantities are displayed in the Task Routing fields in the format Completed/Required (e.g. (3/4))
Production Planning > Show Progress (Qty):
A checkbox. If checked, shows the Quantity made so far.
If your option under Set Task Quantity is Service, uncheck this checkbox because this progress will match the Service progress.
