Navigate to Main Menu > Items > Items.
Click Menu (button) > Edit Categories.
Click New (button).
A new record is created at the bottom of the list. Fill in the details as follows:
Name = Type in a name for the category.
Class = Select a class from the dropdown list of classes.
Caption: Costing = Type a caption to be used for costing.
Costing Variables = Check the box if the category is used for costing variables.
Markup Alert = Type an amount for the percentage markup. Any markup below that percentage creates an alert.
Navigate to Main Menu > Items > Items.
Click Menu (button) > Edit Categories.
Change any of the fields as needed (see How to Create a Category above for more information).
Click Save (button).
Navigate to Main Menu > Items > Items.
Click Menu (button) > Edit Categories.
Right-click the Category you want to create Subcategories for and select Edit Subcategory Lookup List.
Type the subcategories one per line.
Click OK (button).
Navigate to Main Menu > Items > Items.
Click Menu (button) > Edit Categories.
Right-click the applicable Category and select Edit Note from the context menu.
Type the Note.
Click Save (button).
Click Close (button).
Navigate to Main Menu > Items > Items.
Click Menu (button) > Edit Categories.
Right-click the applicable Category and select Change Class from the context menu.
Read the disclaimer on the popup (all user-defined fields are lost) and decided if you want to continue.
The Category's Class field will become editable. Select a new Class from the dropdown list.
ℹ️ When you edit an item, all or only some of the available tabs can be shown.

Navigate to Main Menu > Items > Items.
Click Menu (button) > Edit Categories.
Right-click the applicable Category and select Set Default Tabs.
Check the checkboxes if the tabs must be included for the specific category. The available tabs are:
Image & Specs
Units
Costing & Pricing
Inventory
Estimating
Event
Accounting
Price History
Costing
Attachments
Dependencies
Click anywhere outside of the list to close the list.
Right-click the applicable Category and select Update all the Visible Tabs in the selected Category.
Confirm that you want to update the tabs on the popup.

Navigate to Main Menu > Items > Items.
Click Menu (button) > Edit Categories.
Right-click the applicable Category and select Enable Fields.
Check the checkboxes if the fields must be included for the specific category. The available fields are:
Make and Model
Reference
Entities
Tracking
Customer
Supplier
Navigate to Items.
Click Menu (button) > Edit Categories.
Right-click the Category you want to delete and select Delete from the context menu.
Confirm that you want to delete the category.
