You probably use BOS Enterprise in a familiar routine every day: open a menu, choose a function, complete the task, and move on.
However, with a few simple interface choices, you can help users find what they need faster and keep their workspace focused. This refresher highlights the Main Menu, the Footer, and the Tile Menu, and shows you how to customise them around the way your team works.
The Main Menu appears as the top row of text when you open BOS Enterprise. It includes all the menu items that are on the menu template and these four entries: Home, Help, Refresh, and Recent.
The Home menu helps users return to the Tile Menu, swap panels from left to right, and restart or exist BOS Enterprise.
The Help menu gives users access to support, documentation, licensing tools, terms of use and system changes. The options are:
Request Helpdesk Support: Open a support form in your browser and send the request directly to our helpdesk.
Online Documentation: Open our online documentation or your selected documentation site. You can update this setting under General Settings > General > Website link (URL) for Online Documentation. The latest link to our documentation is: https://sites.google.com/quickeasysoftware.com/bosentlearningv25/home.
Renew License: Enter your new expiry date and key to extend your licence.
Terms of Use: Open our general terms of use and view information about the data we must keep to support you and BOS Enterprise.
View Changelog: See all the changes for the selected period in one place.
If a new item or account does not appear straight away, click the Refresh button. BOS Enterprise updates the lists so you can continue working with the latest information.
The Recent button provides a clickable list of modules you recently visited. Clicking an entry returns you to the module and tab you recently opened.
The Footer gives users helpful system information at a glance. It shows the name under which you are logged in, company you are working in, BOS Enterprise version number and a menu of useful commands.
Refresh: Refresh the display. This option is also on the Main Menu for quicker access.
Restart: Restart BOS Enterprise.
Exit: Close BOS Enterprise.
Setup Menu: Customise menus and allocate them to users (see below).
Enable DB Monitor: Monitor database efficiency, data safety, and compliance with rules such as your cloud-storage provider’s requirements.
About QuickEasy Software: View the latest upgrade information. If the latest entry in your version is older than the newest update listed under What’s New in the documentation, your system may not be up to date. However, you don’t need an entry for every update. For example, the 29 June upgrade shown in our screenshot included all updates made since 10 June.
Window: Adjust BOS Enterprise to a different display size. For example, select 800x600 if you want to open a browser and BOS Enterprise side by side (then move the BOS Enterprise window to the left or right).
About QuickEasy Software popup
Menu customisation helps each user see the tools they need without extra clutter. You can group menu items, create templates, and assign those templates to the right users.
Menu Groups control the main groups that appear on users’ menus. Open a Menu Group to edit its colour, add or remove items, and choose whether it should appear on the Tile Menu. You can also add a Begin Group line to help an item stand out. You may create as many Menu Groups as you need, and you can add the same item to more than one group.
Menu Templates let you combine Menu Groups and assign them to users. You can decide which groups appear on the Tile Menu. If you leave a group off the Tile Menu, users can still access it from the Main Menu.
As a rule, place features that users open often on the Tile Menu. Keep features they use less often on the Main Menu.
After you create a Menu Template, open the template list, choose the template and select View/Edit Users. Move users from Available to Selected to allocate the template. Move users back to Available when you want to remove the template from their profile.
Use the Tile Menu for the items your team opens most often.
The number of items that fit on the Tile Menu depends on monitor size and resolution.
A standard HD display can fit up to six columns.
Four to eight rows work well on a standard HD display.
Tile Menu entries show useful live information, such as the number of active transactions or records.
Take five minutes to review your current menus and decide which tools your users need most. Then update your Menu Groups and Menu Templates to make BOS Enterprise faster, cleaner, and easier to use.
