For my final data visualization project, I chose to work with religions across the Americas. The data I used was collected by the WRP (World Religion Project).
I wanted to create a visualization that would allow users to learn which religions are more popular in countries of the Americas.
In my visualization, the data is shown with dots over each country (in the Americas) on a map of the world!
To interact with the visualization, try hovering over the dots, and then the population percentage of each faith is shown! The religions I covered are: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Zoroastrianism, Hindu, Sikh, Shinto, Bahai, Taoism, Jain, Confucianism, Syncretic religions, Animist religions, and other religions. I also included non-religious percentages.
One interesting thing I noticed during this project is that the data is detailed further for the bigger, more populated countries.
Something I still wonder about is why there was a huge increase of Muslims in the US, but then all of them went away in the next five years. I think this was an error.
