For my final data visualization project, I chose to work with a data set the represents California Wildfires from 2013 - 2019. It was created by CalFire
I wanted to create a visualization that would allow users to see the impact of climate change over time and how big fires are getting. Also, to show how much more common fires are getting.
In my visualization, the data is represented as little fires that are corresponding to the amount of acres burned by each fire.
To interact with the visualization, try pressing play and then pausing with the "s" key, going forward with the "d" key, going back in time with the "a" key, and to see all of the fires over the course of 6 years, press "f".
One interesting thing I noticed during this project is how many small fires there were but combined they make just as big of an impact. Also, how common wildfires are even though we only hear about the big ones.
Something I still wonder about is what the best way is to reduce the wildfires that are burning across California.
