For my final data visualization project, I chose to work with data that surveyed the number of people under a certain amount of dollars in each country around the world. I wanted to create a visualization that would allow users to see how many people are living under the poverty line in each country. I chose this data set because I found it shocking how many people are living under a few dollars every day. This data set can be found on https://ourworldindata.org/ which is a site that stores thousands of data sets for piblic use.
In my visualization, the data is represented as a dot. When the user hovers over the dot a list of numbers will appear. This data represents the number of people under 40, 30, 20, 10, 5.50, 3.20, 1.90 , and 1 dollar per day. To interact with the visualization, try hovering over each dot.
One interesting thing I noticed during this project is that thousands of people all over the world have to live off of a few dollars a day. Something I still wonder about is how countries try to avoid this and if I could test how GDP affects the number of people under _ amount of dollars.
