For my final data visualization project, I chose to work with a dataset about California wildfires between 2013 and 2020.
I wanted to create a visualization that would allow users to see where each wildfire occured, and how many acres were burned. I was wondering which areas were the most prone to fires, and which areas had the deadliest ones.
In my visualization, the data is represented as dots on the map in the location of each fire.
To interact with the visualization, try hovering over each dot, to see how many acres were burned per area. The redder the dot is, the more severe the fire was.
One interesting thing I noticed during this project is that there seem to be two lines along California that had an extreme amount of fires.
Something I still wonder about is why there are data points in Nevada and other places outside California.
