For my final data visualization project, I chose to work with a data set about child labor rates in every country. The source for this data is from ourworldindata.org.
I wanted to create a visualization that would allow users to see which countries depend on child labor and which ones don't. Child labor has always been a somber topic for me... To think a kid my age or YOUNGER is working 14 hour work days in a factory is heartbreaking.
In my visualization, the data is represented as color coded dots on a map
To interact with the visualization, try moving around and hovering over dots
One interesting thing I noticed during this project is countries known to use lots of child labor refuse to release the statistics to the public.
These percentage statistics were taken between 2010-2017, how would this look today?
