For my final data visualization project, I chose to work with the data on food and feed production. Food being human food, and feed being animal feed.
I wanted to create a visualization that would allow users to look around a map, and see which countries produce the most food and/or feed, and exactly how much.
In my visualization, the data is represented as circles, where the size is how much food or feed was produced, and the color indicates the type (blue is food, red is feed).
To interact with the visualization, try changing either of the sliders along the top of the screen, or use any of the normal map controls such as zooming (scrolling) or moving around (clicking and dragging).
One interesting thing I noticed during this project is that USA starts out by far with the most, but by the end China is by far on top.
Something I still wonder about is how this data was collected. Was there some sort of official form sent out to tons of different countries? If so, is it possible that some countries lied about these statistics (if so, why?)?
