For my final data visualization project, I chose to work with UNESCO's dataset.
I wanted to create a visualization that would allow users to see extinct languages and how many speakers they still have.
In my visualization, the data is represented as dots on a map colored by how many speakers of extinct languages by country.
To interact with the visualization, try hovering over the dots.
One interesting thing I noticed during this project is many "extinct" still have over 100,000 speakers or more
Something I still wonder about is if the languages are so extinct how do you gather this kind of data properly?
