The Cuban Missile Crisis

The Cuban Missle Crisis began on October 14, 1962.

Photographs taken by a high-altitude spy plane offered evidence that there were Soviet-made medium-range missiles in Cuba. These missiles were capable of carrying nuclear warheads and were stationed only 90 miles off the American coastline.

After being developed and analyzed by intelligence officers, they were presented to President Kennedy and during the next two weeks, the United States and the Soviet Union would come as close to nuclear war as they ever had.
