Talcott Building

The Talcott building, 321 West State Street, was built on the former Armstrong store site in 1927.

The 12 story building was erected in two units, the first to be six stories high, but with a foundation and walls to permit an extra six stories. Plumbing, heating and foundation contractors were instructed to assume that the structure could be two times higher than was originally called for and to construct with an eye towards easy transition to more vertical space.
