The Evolution of a Rockford School
Rockford City Council approved the design by architect David S. Schureman and expenses to build a new elementary school in 1893, Adams School.
The school was located at 910 Second Ave.
In 1904, Adams School's name was changed to Henry Freeman School, in honor of a former principal.
1945, the school was converted to a Special Education Building for children who were polio victims.
1970, the building changed to a middle school for a short time.
And in 1978, it was renamed Freeman Square and was converted to office space shortly there after.
