The Dixon Colony for Curable Epileptics

The opening was scheduled for 1916 but do to delays, labor shortages, strikes and wartime difficulties, construction was not completed until 1918.

Included in the overall plan for the colony were many buildings including structures as the administration building, general hospital, amusement building, receiving building, juvenile building, library, kitchens, dining room, wards, employees buildings, power house, industrial building, laundry, and managing officer's cottage.

Estimated Cost: $1,500,000.

Since that time the name and duties have changed over the years to Dixon State Hospital, Dixon Developmental Center and Jack Mabley Developmental Center.
