The first parade was just a stroll down State Street from the Faust Hotel in 1977, organized by the Irish Marching Society.
The Irish Marching Society (IMS) was founded in 1977 by a group of individuals who wanted to come together to celebrate the Irish Heritage in the city of Rockford, Illinois. Each year since, they have planned and staged the parade and a party called the PaddyFest.
