On this day in 2007, the seventh and final Harry Potter novel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, is released.

Having sold more than 500 million copies worldwide, Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling is the best-selling book series in history. Rowling’s first novel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, debuted in Britain in 1997 (it was retitled Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone when it was released in America the next year) and went on to become an international bestseller. As of June 2017, the series has been translated into 80 languages, placing Harry Potter among history's most translated literary works.
