Analysis

The setting is nazi Germany and it influences Michael in a bad way. For example, the Nazis make Michael do bad things like raid houses and burn books or send people to consideration camps, and even send them on deadly missions. The setting influences Fritz by making him mean and unforgiving.  For example when Fritz first joined the Hitler Youth and when they went through their ignition test he was nice and Michael's friend but after he joined the science team he became a mean ruthless Hitler fanatic. The setting influences Simon by making him give up everything. For example, when Simon first comes to Germany he has to hide in a closet and wants to avoid getting caught by the SRD, but by the end of the story, he is willing to get turned in to the SRD by Michael so Michael can get on the science team and save professor goldsmith.
