Simon learns that he needs to have trust in other people.  I know this because on page 62  the text says "Very important reconnaissance photos. I need you to get them for me." This shows that Simon must trust Micheal that he is on his side and trust him about the photos. Another piece of evidence is that on page 68 the text says " "You will have to stay with us in Berlin until you heal up." " That shows that Simon has to trust the family to help him hide and heal fast. He is also trusting them to get him out of the enemy city as soon as possible. My last piece of evidence is on page 73 when the text says " Taking Pictures. Simons Said." this shows that he has to trust the family to know what he was doing all alone.  Also On page 91, the text says "  "Bird." Simon says "That is what I'm afraid of. Birds" Simon needs to trust Micheal to tell him his fear. All of these things show that Simon learns that he needs to trust. However, there is more! Towards the end of the book the text says "  He leaves tonight Micheal. It is all set." This shows that Simon needs to trust the family getting him out in one piece. As you can see all of this evidence proves that Simon learns that he has to trust Micheal's family.
