Dear Parents and 8th Grade Student:
At Bear Valley, we feel strongly that all students deserve an excellent and challenging educational experience. To uphold this high standard, we have set guidelines for participation for our promotion ceremony and 8th Grade Harbor Cruise at the end of the year. These guidelines are based on your child’s Grade Point Average (GPA). Your child must meet the requirement below:
An average GPA of 2.0 for Trimester III
If your child does not meet this standard then they will be ineligible to participate in our 8th Grade Promotion, 8th Grade Promotion Celebration, and Harbor Cruise.
We appreciate your support in counseling your student about the importance of grades, behavior, and class requirements. Counselors and 8th grade teachers will be providing reminders and support for students. If you want to monitor your student’s academic progress, please access the Powerschool Parent Portal. If you do not have access to the Parent Portal, to view your child’s grades please contact our front office and they will be happy to assist you with obtaining your user name and password. In trimester three, students will be working with teachers and counselors on goal setting, developing, and maintaining good study habits that will foster academic success that will carry over to high school.
This is an important time for our 8th grade students, and it is critical that they realize that education and hard work will help them be successful in the future. Responsible study habits and a positive and cooperative attitude will help ensure a successful transition to high school. On behalf of the Bear Valley 8th grade team and school staff, thank you for your support.
