Desperate Crossing Historical Narrative Example

Learning Target: I will write a historical story about the Pilgrims.

The Pilgrims2 scattered around the room, hiding themselves as best as they could. They trembled in fear as the constable hammered on the door and screamed, “Open up! I order you to open the door!” King James8 did not approve of this group of Separatists6, as they were not follow his official church, the Church of England4. The king had ordered his constable to arrest any person in this congregation13 for violating his decrees. They separatists would incur his wrath for their disobedience. (5)

The story of the Pilgrims began in Scrooby, England1. were afraid of what would happen once they opened the door, but they were also willing to face the consequences for fully following their firm faith in Christ. They did consider themselves Protestants5, but unlike Puritans7, they did not believe that the official English Church would or could completely remove unbiblical practices. As they opened the door, the constable stormed in with his men and ordered the arrest of every person within the home. Children, women, and men were rounded up and taken to a cold and dreary prison.
