Participation is weighted 15% of a student grade and Points are recorded in Rooms. Students are expected to make this classroom a learning environment at all times. Students will receive Positive and Needs Work Points based on their work habits and following class expectations. All students can EARN or LOSE Participation Points each day of class.Â
A student can earn a point by following instructions, participating, answering questions, volunteering, sharing, helping, responsibility, preparation, making effort, and exhibiting other positive work habits.
A student will lose one point whenever classroom instructions and expectations are not followed. A student is expected to remain on task at all times. Any student who is unprepared, disruptive, talkative, and off task will lose a point. Using a Restroom Pass will also lose one point.
A student will automatically receive Two Free Restroom Passes at the start of each Grading Cycle. These Two Passes are worth Two Points, which starts all students with a participation grade of an 80%. A student can choose to keep these points or use them as restroom passes.
The following scale is used to convert Points into a Participation Grade that is recorded in PowerSchool at the conclusion of each Progress or Trimester Report Card grading period.
