Rosa Parks Collaborative Poster

Learning Target: I will create a Mind Map that illustrates and explains the impact Rosa Park made to the Civil Rights Movement.

  1. Students will work in their group to create a Collaborative Poster based on two readings about Rosa Park. They will create the poster in the mind map format.

    • Share Mind Map Art to show creative examples.

    • Begin your Mind Map Instructions and Examples in the middle of the Paper. Create a Symbol or Image in the center of the paper that represents the topic. Then use Words, Phrases, Images, Icons, Dates, Symbols, and Visuals to represent your knowledge of the topic. Connect concepts together using colorful lines, shapes, arrows, and words.

    • Each student will use one colored marker the entire time and will also sign their full name on the front of the poster.

Learning Target: I will identify what are Civil Rights and analyze how Rosa Parks impacted the Civil Rights Movement.

  1. Students will present their Mind Map Collaborative Poster based on two readings about Rosa Park to the class as a Gallery Walk Presentation.

    • Each group will present their poster in front of the class at the chosen group station.

    • Review Presentation expectations.

    • Each member of a group will present their section of the Mind Map Collaborative Poster.
