F.A.Q

What if the timetable does not fit my family's schedule?

  • We understand families have diverse needs and lifestyles. The provided weekly timetables are 'recommendations' from the Level 4 teachers and should be used 'flexibly'.

I am having digital accessing issues with logins and assignment submissions.

  • Most of the learning tasks and resources set for students utilise programs and platforms that they should be familiar with from school. Please check out the Troubleshoot Tutorials page before contacting your child's teacher.

Will my child receive any feedback from teachers?

  • Rest assured, all Level 4 teachers will endeavour to provide students with some form of feedback. This is one of the most pertinent aspects in any successful education but also particularly challenging in remote learning. The Level 4 teachers may trial different methods for their learners, for example, by writing to individuals on their SeeSaw uploads, Edmodo posts or video conferences using Microsoft Teams.

How will this impact my child's reports and assessment results?

  • As mandated by the state department, our school still aims to report on students in writing twice a year. If there are any changes to the reporting release date or contents, you will be notified by our school principals via Compass.

Is my child's privacy ensured with online platforms?

  • Yes, all of the main learning tasks and resources are provided on SeeSaw as it is a private group that is only accessible with a code when unlocked by the teacher or administrator. When students submit learning products, these will only be visible by relevant teachers and parents.

My child has or needs sensitive information or confidential details.

  • Every learner has their own unique goals and needs. Each teacher will aim to communicate with learners and parents individually of their personal goals where necessary (in Reading, Writing, Mathematics and You Can Do It!). Similarly, students with Individual Learning Plans and those who are learning early levels of English as an Additional Language (EAL) will be contacted via email or phone. It is expected that they pursue alternative learning arrangements in place of all or parts of the uploaded learning programs.

Do I have to do both the mainstream English or Mathematics learning in addition to Innovation tasks?

  • Students who commenced Innovation programs in Term One should continue to follow plans in Term Two. They are encouraged to complete all mainstream tasks in addition to Innovation lessons as this demonstrates their high proficiency to be a part of the program.

My child is struggling to be self-reliant. Can the learning be easier or more challenging?

  • It is often said that it takes 'a village to raise a child'. Our learning programs include 'You Can Do It!' lessons that will hone in on strategies for developing students' resilience, organisation and other skills that will help them move past this difficult time.

Is my child expected to collaborate with my family or other students?

  • We understand and respect the busy nature of family life. Online student collaboration is an area of which we wish to explore in the not distant future. However, we are mindful of ensuring the most accessible and safe spaces for students. Please stay tuned for any updates.

My internet is down. What can I do?

  • Please try contacting the school office and alternatively, email the respective classroom teacher. We will try our best to support you on this.

How do I know my child is safe online?

  • This is definitely on teachers' radar of learning lessons and will be incorporated into suggested weekly programs. Parents should monitor children's use of apps and websites via content and privacy restriction settings on devices and/or home networks. According to our school guidelines, "Learning at home should never consist of 100% online learning" but rather entail a diverse balance with offline learning tasks and experiences.

I am overwhelmed. Where can I find support for my mental well-being?

SeeSaw is a learning platform that will allow for students to upload their completed learning tasks in order for teachers to provide them with feedback and feed-forward. Where relevant, teachers will upload videos or activities to support individual lessons. Students will be able to access their classes SeeSaw account via the image posted onto their classes Edmodo account. Parents, you can also have access to your child's SeeSaw account by following the instructions that were emailed to you from your child's teacher.

Edmodo is a classroom app that can be used to interact with your peers or to contact your classroom teacher. Edmodo is used solely for asking questions that relate to your learning and for uploading certain learning tasks that will be communicated via your classroom teacher. If you do not have access to your classroom Edmodo page, ask your guardian (mum, dad, grandpa, etc.) to email your teacher to gain access.
