F.A.Q.

What if the timetable does not fit my family's schedule?

  • We understand families have diverse needs and lifestyles. It is completely understandable if students are unable to complete learning tasks on occasions due to other commitments. The provided weekly timetables are 'recommendations' from the Prep teachers and should be used 'flexibly' with suggested time allocations in the learning plans.

I am having digital accessing issues with logins and assignment submissions.

  • Most of the learning tasks and resources set for students utilise programs and platforms that they should be familiar with from school. Please check out the Troubleshoot Tutorials page before contacting your child's teacher.

Will my child receive any feedback from teachers?

  • Rest assured, all Prep teachers will endeavour to provide students with some form of feedback. This is one of the most pertinent aspects in any successful education but also particularly challenging in remote learning. The Prep teachers may trial different methods for their learners, for example, by providing a written or recorded audio-visual responses to Seesaw or setting predetermined successes and next steps with assessment checklists and rubrics.

How will this impact my child's reports and assessment results?

  • As mandated by the state department, our school still aims to report on students in writing twice a year. If there are any changes to the reporting release date or contents, you will be notified by our school principals via Compass. At this stage, all teachers will continue to track students against the Victorian Curriculum and school 'skill statements' (core knowledge, skills and capabilities). If there is insufficient evidence, students may have sections of their reports removed or indicated as N/A.

Is my child's privacy ensured with online platforms?

  • Yes, all of the main learning tasks and resources are provided on Seesaw as it is a private group that is only accessible with a code when unlocked by the teacher or administrator. When students submit learning products via assignment tabs, these will only be visible by relevant teachers and parents. On Seesaw, videos will show up on the main page only when approved by the teacher. In regards to access codes, please act responsibly and avoid sharing them beyond our Prep Level and class communities.

My child has or needs sensitive information or confidential details.

  • Every learner has their own unique goals and needs. Each teacher will aim to communicate with learners and parents individually of their personal goals where necessary (in Reading, Writing, Mathematics and You Can Do It!). Similarly, students with Individual Learning Plans and those who are learning early levels of English as an Additional Language (EAL) will be contacted via email or phone. It is expected that they pursue alternative learning arrangements in place of all or parts of the uploaded learning programs.

My child is struggling to be self-reliant. Can the learning be easier or more challenging?

  • It is often said that it takes 'a village to raise a child'. Our learning programs include 'You Can Do It!' lessons that will hone in on strategies for developing students' resilience, organisation and other skills that will help them move past this difficult time.

Is my child expected to collaborate with my family or other students?

  • We understand and respect the busy nature of family life. Online student collaboration is an area of which we wish to explore in the not distant future. However, we are mindful of ensuring the most accessible and safe spaces for students. Please stay tuned for any updates.

My internet is down. What can I do?

  • Please try contacting the school office and alternatively, email the respective classroom teacher. We will try our best to support you on this.
