Learning Intention: To develop and refine kicking techniques to accurately kick towards a target

WARM UP

This warm up is the same for all year levels so if you have siblings you can do your warm up together!

Maybe even get your parents to join in!

  • Get moving with Mrs Hardy in this weeks whole school warm up!!

MINI LESSON

Laces Kick

  • Non-kicking foot planted next to the ball

  • Keep your eyes focused on the ball

  • Make contact with the ball on the laces of your shoe

  • Follow through towards the target with you kicking leg once you have kicked the ball

LEARNING TASK 1 - Partner Passing

  • Find a partner, wall or open space

  • Practice the laces kick, focusing on the technique from the mini lesson above!

  • Kick the ball back and forth with your partner or the wall (at least 20 kicks)

  • Chase the ball if you are in open space and keep kicking to help refine your technique

  • Try kicking on your non-preferred foot if you are looking for a further challenge!!

LEARNING TASK 2 - Funnel of Doom

  • Set up your funnel using anything you have got at home (eg. empty bottles/cans/toys/socks/clothes/chairs)

  • Attempt to kick the ball as far down the funnel as you can to score more points!

  • 1 x point through the first markers / 3 x points through the second / 5 x points through the end and 10 x points if you can hit the target at the end of the funnel

  • Add your score up after 3 kicks and start again (try to beat your score each time!!)

  • You can reduce the size of the funnel to make it more challenging

LEARNING TASK 3 - Goal Kicking Streak

  • The aim of this learning task is to see how many goals you can kick in a row

  • Once you miss a shot, record your score and start again

  • See if you can beat your score. Can you get to 3? Maybe 5? How about 10?

  • Don't forget to remember your technique when kicking

    • Non-kicking foot next to the ball

    • Eyes focused on the ball

    • Perform a laces kick

    • Follow through towards the target with your kicking leg

  • Looking for a further challenge?

    • Add a "goalkeeper" using a chair or change the angle you are kicking from

TERMINOLOGY AND KEY SKILLS
