Position: Social Media Intern
Position Description: The purpose of our Social Media Intern is to work closely with our Marketing Manager to gain hands-on experience in social media management, digital marketing, and content creation within a non-profit environment. The ideal candidate will be passionate about wildlife conservation, have a keen eye for engaging content, and be eager to learn and contribute to our mission.
Work Location: This position is located at the Carolina Raptor Center Hospital building, located at 6000 Sample Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078. It requires reliable transportation to commute.
Essential Functions:
Assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive social media strategy to increase online visibility and engagement.
Create, schedule, and post content across various social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.).
Monitor and respond to social media interactions in a timely and professional manner.
Help design graphics, videos, and other multimedia content that align with CRC’s brand and mission.
Conduct research on social media trends, audience preferences, and best practices.
Collaborate with the Marketing Manager and development team to align social media efforts with broader campaigns and initiatives.
Track and analyze social media performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and growth.
Assist in organizing and promoting on-site events through social media channels.
Other duties as desired or assigned.
Qualifications: This position best suits individuals with the following:
At least 18 years old
Interest in wildlife conservation and environmental education
Proficiency in using social media platforms and tools
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Basic photography and videography skills are a plus
Can work self-guided and with others
Willingness to work outside in a variety of conditions

Commitment Expectations: This is an unpaid position. Interns are required to work at least 12 hours per week. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays as needed. Start and end dates are flexible. However, interns are expected to have a consistent schedule.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Position: Avian Keeper Internship
Position Description: Avian Keeper Interns at Carolina Raptor Center work closely with Avian Ambassador Team staff to learn about husbandry, training, and education. Interns will help care for our avian ambassadors by preparing diets, distributing food, and cleaning enclosures. They will also learn positive reinforcement training techniques and present keeper chats to our visitors to connect the public to the natural world.
Qualifications: To qualify for this internship, applicants must be at least 18 years old. Interns should be able to lift 50 lbs and capable of working outside in all weather conditions. Each intern must be able to work self-guided and with people from all backgrounds in a fast-paced environment. All interns must have a willingness to speak up and ask questions as well as an ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
Requirements: Interns are accepted each academic semester, including a summer session, with some flexibility in start and end dates. Interns will receive general onboarding training with our volunteer manager as well as additional training specific to their position. This is an unpaid position. Interns are required to work at least 3 days per week. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.

Position: Raptor Hospital Intern
Position Description: Raptor Hospital Interns assist staff in the daily operations of the Raptor Hospital. Interns develop medical skills to care for wild patients alongside staff, including administering medications and treatments, performing intake exams, and participating in rescues and releases. Interns learn from staff in all departments and participate in events and educational programming. Interns complete a project fitted to their interests and designed to make an impact on CRC.
Qualifications: To qualify for this internship, applicants must be at least 18 years old. Interns should be able to lift 50 lbs and capable of working outside in all weather conditions. Each intern must be able to work self-guided and with people from all backgrounds in a fast-paced environment. All interns must have a willingness to speak up and ask questions as well as an ability to follow both written and verbal instructions. Interns need to have a strong stomach to assist in food preparation and witness a variety of injuries.
Requirements
Interns are accepted each academic semester, including a summer session, with some flexibility in start and end dates. Interns will receive general onboarding training with our volunteer manager as well as additional training specific to their position. This is an unpaid position. Summer interns are expected to work 35-40 hours per week. Spring and Fall interns are expected to work 15-20 hours per week. Interns are expected to have a consistent schedule.

Position: Education Intern
Position Description: Education Interns at Carolina Raptor Center work closely with our Wildlife Educator to gain hands-on experience in environmental education program development, implementation, and evaluation. Interns will aid in updating, creating and maintaining educational materials as well as participating in keeper chats and specials events. Interns will also learn best practices and techniques for sharing information with guests on raptors and conservation messaging to connect visitors to the natural world. Note this internship does not work directly with live animals.
Qualifications: To qualify for this internship, applicants must be at least 18 years old. Interns should be able to lift 20 lbs and capable of working outside in all weather conditions. Each intern must be able to work self-guided and with people from all backgrounds in a fast-paced environment. All interns must have a willingness to speak up and ask questions as well as an ability to follow both written and verbal instructions. Interns must also be able to positively interact with members of the public.

Position: Jeff Thomas Keeper & Rehab Intern
Position Description: The Jeff Thomas Internship is a work-experience focused internship that prioritizes access and opportunities for diverse populations. Interns are empowered to build industry experience at a world-class facility under leading experts in the field and given the opportunity to identify, develop, and complete a unique project which is presented at the conclusion of their internship. Jeff Thomas interns split the duration of their internship between the Rehabilitation department and Resident Bird Care department at the Carolina Raptor Center.
Eligibility Requirements: Applicants for Jeff Thomas Internships MUST meet one or more of the following criteria:
Household income below the Federal Poverty Level.
Eligible for Federal Pell Grants.
Participating in or qualifying for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
First generation college student.
Qualifications: To qualify for this internship, applicants must be at least 18 years old. Interns should be able to lift 50 lbs and capable of working outside in all weather conditions. Each intern must be able to work self-guided and with people from all backgrounds in a fast-paced environment. All interns must have a willingness to speak up and ask questions as well as an ability to follow both written and verbal instructions. Interns need to have a strong stomach to assist in food preparation and witness a variety of injuries.
Requirements: Jeff Thomas Interns are accepted each summer with some flexibility in start and end dates. Interns will receive general onboarding training with our volunteer manager as well as additional training specific to their position. The Jeff Thomas Intern is expected to complete a full-time, 11-week internship at 40 hours a week, and will receive a $5,000 stipend.
