Position Summary:
The A2S U.S. Office Intern will support all departments and gain hands-on experience across development, communications, HR, outreach, donor relations, events, and administrative tasks. This role is perfect for students or emerging professionals interested in nonprofit work, donor engagement, fundraising, events, communications, service trips, humanitarian aid, or organizational operations. Interns will work closely with the U.S. team and occasionally with Nigerian program leads, contributing to daily operations and mission-driven projects while building skills in nonprofit leadership, project management, and global program support.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with donor research, stewardship, and database updates.
Support fundraising, donor profiles, and grant research/writing.
Help plan the annual benefit event and other fundraising activities.
Create social media content, newsletters, website updates, and promotional materials.
Assist with messaging, photo/video editing, and media materials.
Prepare donor packets, reports, acknowledgments, and presentations.
Assist with CRM cleanup and data entry.
Support HR documents, onboarding materials, and staff training tracking.
Assist with volunteer communication, church/partner outreach, and program materials.
Support Vision Trip and Scholar-related tasks.
Assist with planning, logistics, materials prep, setup/breakdown, and event follow-up.
Provide scheduling, communication, filing, and data entry support.
Help maintain organizational systems and office organization.
Conduct research on grants, donors, nonprofit strategy, and organizational growth.
Complete one major end-of-internship project connected to development, outreach, strategy, communications, program design, or operations.
Additional tasks as assigned based on organizational needs and intern interests.
Required or Preferred Skills
Experience in communications is a plus, but not required
Experience working with databases is a plus, but not required
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Organized, detail-oriented, and willing to learn.
Comfort with technology (Google Workspace, Canva, social platforms).
Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment.
Passion for service, youth empowerment, and community development.
Positive attitude, humility, and professionalism.
Work Environment
The intern will have a designated workspace at our office on Barra Row in Davidson. Our office is open concept, and even doors that can be shut usually remain open as everyone here has an open-door policy! We are a small collaborative team that works hard and enjoys a good laugh.
Flexible schedule with remote and in-person work.

U.S. Intern Job Description
This is a part-time position with A2S in Davidson. The intern will support staff in developing internal and external communications and fundraising activities. The Intern will have a variety of responsibilities to move the organization's mission forward and gain knowledge and experience across the inner workings of a nonprofit organization.
Some tasks and projects will include:
Various tasks related to the design, fundraising, communication, and development of A2S’s annual benefit event
Learning and managing parts of the donor information database
Learning and managing various fundraising sites
Assisting in the development of content for our website and social media
Conducting research related to grants and prospective donors
Research the strategy and growth plan for the organization
Coordination of existing fundraising efforts while exploring new approaches to generate support for the organization
Support grant writing efforts, including the potential to draft and submit a grant request
Serve on and facilitate the work of relevant event planning committees
Assist in the development of promotional materials, direct marketing, press releases, and media advisories
Database cleanup & building donor profiles
Other tasks as assigned
Required or Preferred Skills:
Self starter with a willingness to learn new skills
Experience in communications a plus but not required
Experience working with databases a plus but not required
