Positions: Multiple Internship Opportunities 

Position Description: Fellowships and internships with CCL are enriching learning experiences for college students and recent graduates working with our expert staff and volunteer leaders. Our fellows and interns go on to top graduate schools and careers in environmental, political, or nonprofit fields. Fellowships are paid positions and internships are volunteer. All work with CCL staff. Fellowships tend to go to students with more experience and education. Internships are usually 8 - 10 hours a week for a semester or 15 weeks.

Fellowships and internships at CCL are extremely competitive; this year we received over 200 applications for 30 positions. To increase your chances of acceptance and as an alternative, we strongly recommend that you participate in CCL’s Climate Advocacy Certificate Program the semester that you apply and also join CCL.

Outreach and Engagement
Field Operations Intern (Remote)
Internship length: 4 months
Hours/week: 8 - 10
Semesters available: Fall, Spring, Summer

The intern will assist with the weekly national Informational Session on Wednesday evenings, write featured chapter blurbs for CCL’s Weekly Bulletin, and create and implement a personal passion project of their choosing. Past projects have encompassed a wide range of activities including hosting a film screening, tabling on campus, giving presentations, and creating and delivering a diversity, equity, and inclusion workshop for volunteers.

Inclusion Intern (Remote)
Internship length: 4 months
Hours/week: 8 - 10
Semesters available: Fall, Spring, Summer

The inclusion intern assists the Vice President of People & Culture in providing support to CCL campus chapters and CCL affinity action teams. The intern will work with members of the Inclusion Team to design and co-create inclusion workshops as needed. This intern will also take on other projects as assigned by the supervisor. From time to time, interns can design their passion projects (after a consultation with their supervisor).

National Youth Action Team Intern (Remote)
Internship length: 4 months
Hours/week: 8 - 10
Semesters available: Fall, Spring (not available in Summer)

This intern assists the Youth Program Coordinator and works closely with youth volunteers in our National Youth Action Team (NYAT). The volunteers are engaged and enthusiastic middle and high school students from across the country who are learning advocacy and leadership skills. The NYAT crafts and implements an annual agenda that helps to empower youth in CCL’s lobbying, outreach, education, and training activities. Intern duties include welcoming new team members and maintaining the roster, overseeing social media posts, responding to DMs, and supporting various subcommittees with projects.  This position includes many opportunities for creativity and mentoring the next generation of climate advocates. 

National Events Intern (Remote)
Internship length: 6 months
Hours/week: 6
Semesters available: February - July

This intern will support the National Events Director in helping organize CCL’s Summer Conference & Lobby Day in Washington, D.C., and other national events (virtual). Primary intern responsibilities include but are not limited to: event marketing, attendee communications, program development, speaker invitations and coordination, vendor management, on-site event execution, and lead a team of interns during the event.

Marketing
Marketing Intern (Remote)
Internship length: 4 months
Hours/week: 8 - 10
Semesters available: Fall, Spring, Summer

This position will primarily support CCL's Director of Marketing, a member of the organization's national marketing staff. This intern will primarily work to create and caption video clips for use on social media in alignment with CCL’s brand guidelines. This intern may also have the opportunity to draft social media copy, support social media community management, and take on other tasks as assigned. Additional marketing tasks are available depending on the intern's skill set and the time of year, such as graphic design, ad script writing, and video filming or photo shoots at CCL events.

Communications
Communications Intern (Remote)
Internship length: 4 months

This position will primarily support CCL's Communications & Media Manager, a member of the organization's national communications staff. This intern will be responsible for reviewing volunteer logs of local media work for completeness and CCL-appropriate content and tone, helping to prepare, run or host media training calls on Zoom, and other tasks as assigned. Additional communications tasks are available depending on the intern's skill set and interest, such as researching local media opportunities, writing blog posts, or authoring and pitching opinion content to local news outlets.

Government Affairs
Government Affairs Intern (Remote)
Internship length: 6 months
Hours/week: 6
Semesters available: Summer/Fall, Winter/Spring

This position supports the Congressional Liaison Program Director who coordinates CCL’s large and small lobbying efforts. This intern also interacts regularly with our dedicated CCL volunteers throughout the country. Primary intern responsibilities include assisting with twice-monthly Liaison Training Calls, coaching and reminders for volunteers setting appointments for lobby meetings, email communications and database updates. Additional opportunities to assist the wider Government Affairs team with research and attending briefings on particular legislation. Intern will learn grassroots advocacy methods, how to interact with the US Congress, volunteer coordination and communications skills.
