Position Description: The WBNC is seeking an enthusiastic and community-driven individual to join us as a Community Outreach Intern. This role presents an exciting opportunity to engage with residents, partners, and stakeholders and to contribute to building initiatives that drive sustainable change. This internship will provide hands-on experience in community engagement, event planning, and grassroots advocacy.
Responsibilities:
Build relationships with community leaders and organizations to foster collaboration.
Collaborate with WBNC staff to identify and implement strategies that address food insecurity, economic empowerment, and housing equity.
Assist in planning and executing community outreach events, health fairs, and educational workshops.
Support the coordination and facilitation of community meetings and focus groups.
Research community needs and assisted in creating outreach materials, such as flyers, social media posts, and newsletters
Monitor social media channels for comments, messages, and mentions, and engage with our community in a timely and authentic manner.
Engage with community members to raise awareness about Three Sisters Market and its benefits.
Maintain accurate records of outreach activities and outcomes for reporting purposes.
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant degree program (e.g., Communications, Marketing, Public Health, Public Relations, Community Development).
Passionate about community building, social equity, and grassroots initiatives.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Basic understanding of research methods and data analysis.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with virtual meeting platforms.
Prior experience in community work or advocacy is a plus.
