Position: Social Media and Email Marketing Intern
Position Description:
About Right Moves For Youth (RMFY): Right Moves For Youth (RMFY) is a Charlotte-based nonprofit dedicated to helping students achieve academic success and life readiness through group mentoring. We are celebrating over 35 years of empowering youth and are committed to building a brighter future for students in our community.
Position Overview: RMFY is seeking an unpaid intern to support our social media content creation and management efforts, as well as assist with email marketing campaigns through Constant Contact. This position is ideal for a student passionate about digital communication, nonprofit work, and making a difference in the lives of young people.
Responsibilities:
Social Media Management:
Develop, schedule, and manage content for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and X.
Monitor engagement and respond to comments/messages in a timely manner.
Assist in planning and executing social media campaigns to increase brand awareness.
Content Creation:
Design graphics, write copy, and create compelling posts aligned with RMFY’s mission and voice.
Capture and edit photos/videos at RMFY events (optional, based on availability).
Email Marketing:
Assist with creating and scheduling email campaigns through Constant Contact.
Maintain email lists and ensure contact databases are up to date.
Analyze email campaign metrics and suggest improvements.
Analytics & Reporting:
Track and report on the performance of social media posts and email campaigns.
Recommend strategies to improve engagement and outreach.
Qualifications:
Proficiency in social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and X).
Familiarity with email marketing tools (Constant Contact preferred but not required).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Creative mindset and ability to design visually appealing content.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Passion for nonprofit work and empowering youth.
Time Commitment:
Flexible hours, approximately 5-10 hours per week.
Internship duration: Spring 2025 semester (with potential for extension).

Project Title: Amplifying Impact: Managing Social Media for Right Moves For Youth
Overview: Right Moves For Youth (RMFY) is a Charlotte-based nonprofit dedicated to helping students achieve academic success and life readiness through group mentoring. With over 35 years of empowering youth, RMFY is committed to building stronger communities by supporting students in their educational journeys. This group project invites students to develop and execute a strategic social media plan for RMFY, leveraging Instagram, Facebook, X, and LinkedIn to raise awareness, engage audiences, and amplify the organization’s mission.
Project Objectives:
Increase visibility and engagement on RMFY’s social media platforms.
Highlight RMFY’s programs, events, and success stories to attract new supporters, volunteers, and donors.
Drive awareness of RMFY’s mission and its impact on Charlotte’s youth.
Student Responsibilities:
1. Social Media Strategy Development:
Conduct a brief audit of RMFY’s current social media efforts.
Develop a content calendar with themes and campaigns tailored to each platform (Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn).
2. Content Creation:
Design engaging posts, including graphics, photos, and videos, that align with RMFY’s voice and mission.
Write compelling captions and use appropriate hashtags to maximize reach.
3. Platform-Specific Management:
Instagram & Facebook: Focus on visually compelling storytelling and community engagement.
X: Post timely updates, advocacy efforts, and organizational news.
LinkedIn: Share professional development opportunities, partnerships, and success stories aimed at corporate and professional audiences.
4. Analytics & Reporting:
Track engagement metrics for each platform.
Provide a final report with insights and recommendations for future social media strategies.
Deliverables:
A 3-month content calendar with detailed posting schedules.
At least 15 pieces of original content tailored to RMFY’s platforms.
A final presentation to RMFY’s team, showcasing outcomes, metrics, and recommendations.
Learning Outcomes:
Hands-on experience in managing social media for a nonprofit organization.
Development of strategic planning, content creation, and analytics skills.
